What is Amatsu?
Amatsu is a gentle form of hands-on physical therapy. It seeks to correct imbalances in the body thus improving movement and relieving pain.
Amatsu uses a range of techniques (including soft tissue work, structural adjustments, balance to the organ system and cranial work) based on western scientific principles of anatomy, physiology, biotensegrity and proprioception.
Rooted in the ancient martial arts traditions of Japan, Amatsu is a modern adaptation of soft tissue therapy that has been used for thousands of years in Japan.
How does Amatsu differ from other physical therapies?
Amatsu is more gentle than many other physical therapies. This means it is suitable for a wide range of bodies from newborn infants to the elderly, including people suffering from arthritis and osteoporosis.
Unlike some other forms of physical therapy, Amatsu is a whole-body treatment that aims to rebalance mechanical structures (muscles, tendons, ligaments) and energetic structures (joints, cranium, meridians). Amatsu doesn’t just focus on the area of pain, instead it looks at treating the root cause of the pain/imbalance by looking at the body as a whole.
How can Amatsu help me?
Amatsu is a great way to restore balance in the body giving us a general sense of well-being.
Almost any issue where the root cause is structural may be treated with Amatsu. Amatsu is therefore beneficial to a wide range of health issues.
Conditions that may be treated with Amatsu include (but are not limited to):
